My Engagement Story

I am truly joyful to write about the details of my recent engagement and share the story with you all. Not only do I now get to marry my true soulmate, he asked me under the most beautiful Gazebo on a Sunday morning with perfect weather in a little town in Upstate NY. The town was called Sacket’s Harbor. It is around 20 minutes from Fort Drum where we were visiting my brother. We were lucky to get to see my brother because he is in the army and was on lock down that weekend. The day we came to see him, we only go to visit him for 20 minutes, but after a couple hours, he text us and was off lock down! Sunday morning we went to get coffee at a local coffee shop called Chrissy Beanz in Sacket’s Harbor. The town had little breweries, restaurants, and coffee shops on it’s main street. It is also considered to be Historic and was a site for a battle. The town is surrounded by boats and bright blue water from Lake Ontario. After getting coffee, I went under the Gazebo to take some pictures for my blog. I asked my boyfriend to take a picture with me and while the photo was being taken, he got down on one knee. I have known that I would love him forever since I met him. I know for a fact that there are no other people in the world that will ever live for each other and love the way we deeply love each other. Leading up to this, we met in AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps is best explained as a domestic form of the PeaceCorps with less contract time. We lived in tents together. For three and a half months, we woke up together, worked 10 hour days together, ate together, and were with each other 24/7.  After AmeriCorps, we knew we could not stop seeing each other just because we would go back to our normal lives in our normal states. After dating for a year while living in different states, my fiance moved to my state for me and here we are today. I am excited to marry a man I respect so much. He is also the funniest, most driven, hard working, handsome, and kind man I have ever met. The ring blew me away when I first put it on. It is the prettiest engagement ring that I have ever seen. I wanted something very unique, but still timeless. The ring is a marquise stone with a halo and has a modern filigree pattern on the basket setting along with a knife edged band. I will post a ring article and outfit post soon:) Also, don’t worry! I was in Gucci when he asked:) Love, Claire.  *All photos below are taken at Sacket’s Harbor, NY or Wessley Island in the Thousand Islands, NY*
